The project: A Jamestown bungalow in dire need of TLC.
What the judges liked in 2017: No detail was overlooked, including the addition of a dog run for the resident black Labs.
Why we like it now: “It has a cozy, storybook look,” said one staffer. The architect didn’t do anything odd to the original structure, and that allows it to retain its warmth and sweetness. The curving details of the windows echo the arbor leading to the garden. The house underwent a major addition, not visible from the street, that adds to the footprint without creating a jarring visual effect.
