The 25th Annual Rhode Island Design Awards
Pop open the bubbly! Time to celebrate our favorites over the years.
A Modest Proposal
the project: A one-time shed that housed an RV becomes a streamlined retreat in Little Compton.
What the judges liked in 2018: The transformation of a humble structure into a truly innovative renovation.
Why we like it now: The mix of the flat roof and pitched roof and the contrast between the two, which you don’t always see. The natural materials complement the construction of this lovely little house in the woods. The look is perfectly symmetrical and thought through. The addition of a sunroom with glass sliding doors and huge windows
creates a dramatic opening to the outdoors and inspiration for its writer/homeowner.
