An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but what about apples coated in sweet, red-candied sugar or caramel? Your doctor (or dentist) probably doesn’t think that counts, but we do! Get your fall fix by picking your own apples and making them into this delicious autumn treat, or try one of these hand-dipped farm favorites.

Jaswell’s Farm

Open and operating for the past 120 years, Jaswell’s Farm which is located right in the heart of Apple Valley, offers farm fresh produce, bakery items and more. Pick a bushel or two of several different types of apples, then enjoy freshly made cider doughnuts and sip apple cider. Plain red candy apples, plus a variety of gourmet candy apples covered in crushed Oreos, chopped walnuts, toasted almonds and more are available right at the farm store.

Pippin Orchard

This orchard is over seventeen acres large and is the site of several varieties of pick-your-own apples. The bag Pippin Orchard provides you with can hold up to twelve pounds, so stock up on the produce to make plenty of candy apples for your next Halloween party. Or, swing by the farmstead for pumpkin or apple cider doughnuts, baked goods or hand-dipped candy apples and creamy caramel apples.

Sunset Orchard Farm

At Sunset Orchard, you will find a wide variety of apples to choose from, and, depending on the time you pick-your-own, different varieties will be available throughout the season. Pick your favorite kind to make homemade candy apples or grab a few of the farm’s handmade version right at the shop. Munching on chocolate and caramel covered apples, apple pies, cider doughnuts and sipping cider are also highly encouraged.

Appleland Orchard 

This roadside farmstead specializes in a plethora of pumpkins, corn stalks and other fall decor, so you surely won’t leave empty handed in the home decor apartment, but we guess that you probably won’t walk out of there without a bundle of sweets, too. Choose from apple pie, cider doughnuts and other delicious bakery items, plus red sugar candy and caramel apples. Did we mention that Appleland also sells gourmet chocolate covered apples the size of a softball?
