The next three months of warm weather are perfect for digging your nose into good books. Robin Kall, renowned podcast host and book influencer, has taken it a step further with a program just for you to enjoy reading books and learning about new authors all summer. Her launch of a summer reading initiative has one goal: to keep people engaged, happy and reading in light of COVID-19.

Each summer month, four authors will each have their own weekly live Crowdcast book club meet-ups, moderated by Kall, where readers can participate just like a book club. The goal is to have you reading a book a week throughout the summer and then participate in the weekly Crowdcast. It’s virtual, so you don’t even have to get out of your pajamas.

Here’s a little information about the “Reading With Robin” founder. In 2002, after hosting author events and merchandising several local bookstores, Robin Kall founded the highly regarded talk radio show, “Reading With Robin.” With a strong passion and enthusiasm for the world of literature, she soon became one of Rhode Island’s most prominent and outspoken personalities sharing books wherever she goes. In 2010, Kall switched to iTunes and launched the “Reading With Robin” podcast. More information about her work can be found on robinkall.com

She’s excited to channel her love for books into creating more virtual experiences to connect readers to authors. “We need books and engagement now more than ever. What we’ve put together here is the perfect way for readers to connect with other readers and their favorite authors,” Kall says. As we continue to slowly come out of quarantine, virtual moments of connection like these within our communities are vital, and offer a fun topic to get our minds off of stress, at least for a little while.

Participating authors include:

Chris Castellani (Leading Men)

Ishmael Beah (Little Family)

Kimberly McCreigh (AGood Marriage)

Brit Bennett (The Vanishing Half)

Beatriz Williams (Her Last Flight)

Kevin Kwan (Sex and Vanity)

Susan Jane Gilman (Donna Has Left the Building)

Joanne Ramos (The Farm)

Byron Lane (A Star is Bored)

Christy Lefteri (The Beekeeper of Aleppo)

Rachel Beanland (Florence Adler Swims Forever)

Courtney Sullivan (Friends and Strangers)

For only $14.99, you can join and save your spot for as many book club meet-ups as you like. You’ll also be entered into several book giveaways throughout the summer. However, it is not necessary to purchase these books in order to participate in the meet-ups. If you want to read them ahead of time, all of the titles listed above are available in the RWR Bookshop. Proceeds from book sales and Book Bash tickets will be donated to the COVID-19 relief efforts of both the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and Share Our Strength.
