Are yurt ready for this? The Lawn at Newport’s the Chanler at Cliff Walk is the newest European outdoor experience with two new luxurious yurts set up for private dining with views of the crashing surf on Easton’s Beach. The yurts are inspired by Scandinavian hygge (pronounced hue-guh), which come from the Norwegian word for “well being” and follows the cozy lifestyle of bundling up and embracing the chill of the great outdoors. The yurts are available from February 5 to March 28 on Thursdays through Sundays for seating times at 5:30 and 6 p.m.

Guests can make a private reservation for two to five people and choose dishes from a Scandinavian-inspired menu created by Michelin-trained executive chef Jacob Jasinksi and his team. The yurts are open for dining on February 5 and the menu includes choices like daily bread rationings of sauerkraut rye toast with housemade malted butter and sea salt pretzel with cheese curd sauce, which can be served with a charcuterie and cheese plate. Next up is a choice of citrus cured salmon with pickled onion, apple mustard, radish and dill or whole roasted haddock with lemon herb dressing, horseradish and potato cakes. Choose from veggie dishes like warmed beets and cream-braised potatoes, followed by “Feasts after the hunt,” served family style with roasted root vegetables, warm potato horseradish salad and cauliflower. Choices include whole roasted chicken, oxtail chili, braised sausage rope, crispy turkey wings and legs and cider-braised applewood smoked pork belly (choose one dish for two guests and two dishes for five or more guests).
