Join What Cheer Writers Club for its Zoom event, What Fear! A Virtual Masquerade on October 30 at 7 p.m. The masquerade is a fundraising event for the club, which is a nonprofit society serving creative scribes and content creators throughout Rhode Island. Proceeds are in support of club programming for local writers, podcasters and illustrators.

The event will be packed with live performances by local thriller writers, the Adventures of Elizabeth Crowne podcast and Stranger Stories, and there will be party tricks from Bitter Tea Tarot, Evelyn Archer, the “Book Psychics” at Twenty Stories and plenty more.

Pop into the event as Jane Austen, Dr. Frankenstein or any author/ literary character of your choosing for a night full of literary enchantment. Wear a mask or dress to impress to win a prize for best costume.

The event is free for What Cheer Writers Club members, as well as LitRI Patreon subscribers, and others can attend by making a donation. Event goers have the chance to support What Cheer Writers Club as the event unfolds, and donations will unlock readings, tricks and amusements.  What Cheer Writers Club is also celebrating two years as a local community supporting the literary arts.

Donations will contribute to a number of things, including professional development workshops that empower local content creators while they experience financial distress, community-building programs like write-ins, virtual cocktail chats and showcases that connect local creatives and encourage collaboration during a time of isolation. Funds will also be used for website/ software upgrades for the club to boost virtual programming and engagement during the health crisis.

Sign up by October 29 and purchase a Supporter ticket ($50+), and you will receive a two-bottle Bourbon Basket or three bottles of Gerard Betrand Cote des Roses to sample from throughout the event. Purchasing a Sponsor ticket ($250+) gets you a gift basket of two whisky bottles, six select wines and other treats and spirits that are hand-curated by a local craft spirit specialist, donated generously by Bin 312 Wine Cellar.

Celebrate Halloween with other passionate literary lovers, and RSVP for the event to receive the Zoom link.
