Since the global pandemic began, many people have been isolated from others to stop the spread of the virus. It can be very lonely, but Dear Rhode Island is trying to connect people together through letter writing.
The community-led program, which was devised by the What Cheers Writers Club, is working with the housing authorities of Pawtucket and Woonsocket to connect people over the age of eighteen in Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts with seniors in Rhode Island.
If you are interested in being connected to a penpal this holiday season, you can sign up on the Dear Rhode Island website before Nov. 16. Penpals will be assigned on Nov. 20 and participants will have to mail their letters out before Dec. 20.
