Summer Scavenger Hunts and Kids’ Paint Parties with Mermaid Masterpieces

Mermaid Masterpieces has a summer full of fun planned with paint parties and the launch of a scavenger hunt around Newport. The team has been hosting paint parties for all ages since 2015. Instructor Becky Killian, a self-taught artist, provides step-by-step painting instructions and helps individuals find their inner artist. Now, Killian has expanded her company even further with an array of events this summer, including a new scavenger hunt that explores the City by the Sea.
For the scavenger hunts, Killian leads guests through a two-hour adventure visiting local hotspots, discovering Newport’s history and even finding some of the city’s hidden gems. All participants will receive a gift bag filled with goodies to help them navigate the hunt. This activity is perfect for any occasion, such as a birthday party, team building event or a family reunion.
“If you’re a lifelong local or just in town for a few days, it’s a fun way to rediscover Newport,” says Killian.
Mermaid Masterpieces will also be holding in person paint parties and private party bookings this summer. The outdoor paint parties take place at locations all around Rhode Island. These events are geared towards kids, but adults are welcome to enjoy a glass of wine while kids create artwork. There is also an option to book a private event for friends, families, schools, libraries, churches or corporate events.
Bring your inner artists to life, and get another perk…free ice cream. If you book a party with Mermaid Masterpieces or participate in a public event, you will receive a Frosty Freez ice cream voucher. While you enjoy your tasty treat, you may notice a beach-themed mural. This mural was created by Killian and now lives at Frosty Freez, in Middletown. If you take a picture in front of the mural and tag Mermaid Masterpieces on social media, you will be entered for a chance to win an ice cream paint party for ten people.
