Newport’s Getting a PB and J and Wine Popup Bar at the Luxurious Chanler Hotel

The fancy porch will feature pairings including quite possibly the priciest peanut butter and jelly sandwich in history matched up with an Opus One wine pairing at $107.

It’s peanut butter jelly time! After the success of its popup hot chocolate bar this winter, the Chanler Hotel is going next level with a popup peanut butter and jelly and wine bar on the picturesque porch overlooking Newport’s Cliff Walk. Starting April 1 through May 19, guests can visit the Chanler porch to experience some upscale wine pairings with a quirky, rejuvenile edge. The Adirondack chairs and scenic ocean view will set the scene, while guests indulge in over-the-top pb-and-j sandwiches served on gourmet bases like homemade Japanese milk bread, a pretzel roll or pumpernickel bread with slatherings of peanut butter, Nutella, pineapple jam, sliced strawberries and bananas and even crispy onions. Wine pairings glam up the affair with suggestions like Couly-Duteil “Chinon” rose, Justin Cabernet Sauvignon and Louis Jadot chardonnay. Most gourmet sandwiches are only $12, while wine pairings range from $13 (zinfandel) to $18 (chardonnay).
