An axe bar, kart racing center, a time-traveling portal and now also a darting site: the R1 Indoor Karting is expanding its space in Lincoln to welcome Dart City, a futuristic and dystopian gaming venue.

Inspired by the video game Cyberpunk 2077, an action role-playing video game based in a massive megalopolis, players get to travel into the not-so-distant future while showing off their darting skills, then take a break with craft cocktails by the bar. Katelyn Van Pelt, public relations and marketing manager, is excited along with the rest of the R1 Indoor Karting team for the doors to open on this thrilling new gaming experience.

Within one of Dart City’s ten lanes, earn your bragging rights by hitting the perfect bull’s eye and reliving the moment with a replay. “It’s like darts reinvented in a way, it’s all electronic so we have real-time scoring and we’ll record everyone’s epic moments,” says Van Pelt of the interactive competition.

All skill levels can partake in this venture: the champion might surprise you every time. “You don’t have to be an expert,” says Van Pelt. “We’ll have three fun games that people can play, and each player will be ranked.”

During the first game, players must throw 180 points as a warm-up to charge a futuristic battery. Games like “Robot Surgery” and “Contract” allow you to practice your hand-eye coordination or show off your precision skills by challenging friends with tricky missions. Dart City provides the equipment, but players are also free to bring their own darts.

Book an hour-reservation for a private lane in Dart City for $25 per person or make it a combo with karting, axe throwing or the TimeZone for $45–$50. Dart City is open for everyone sixteen and up. Hours are Monday through Thursday 4–11 p.m., Friday 4 p.m.–midnight, Saturday noon–midnight, and Sunday noon– 11 p.m. R1 Indoor Karting, 100 Higginson Ave., Lincoln, 401-721-5554, r1indoorkarting.com
