The Fourth of July has become synonymous with many things: backyard barbecues, family gatherings and parades. But nothing is quite as iconic as the bombastic fireworks show. There are fireworks displays setting off all over Rhode Island for the Fourth of July. This is your one stop shop for all firework shows happening in the area.

  1. Block Island

When: Tuesday, July 1 at 9 p.m.  

Where: Start your celebrations early with Block Island’s thirty-ninth annual fireworks display on Tuesday, July 1. Partnering with Block Island Tourism Council, the committee will light up the sky from a barge in the Block Island Sound, enabling the breathtaking display to be seen from any vantage point on the island at dusk. And if you don’t catch the ferry home before Tuesday, the island is also hosting their annual parade on the fourth.

  1. Warwick (Oakland Beach)

When: Thursday, July 3 from 9–9:30 p.m.  

Where: Warwick’s Independence Day display will launch from Oakland Beach and last about half an hour long. Heavy traffic is expected at the seawall, so spectators are advised to seek alternate routes to the area, such as Sea View Drive or Pequot Avenue. In addition to Oakland Beach, the fireworks can also be seen from City Park. The rain date for this event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 5.

  1. Pawtucket

When: Saturday, July 5 at 7:30 p.m.  

Where: Join the City of Pawtucket and Rhode Island FC for an Independence Day celebration on July 3 at Centreville Bank Stadium. Fireworks will start following the conclusion of RIFC’s game, which kicks off at 7:30p.m. These fireworks can be seen around Tidewater Landing and are the city of Pawtucket’s official fireworks.

  1. East Providence

When: Thursday, July 3 at 6 p.m.  

Where: East Providence will celebrate its annual Independence Day Celebration with food, concessions and a free concert featuring the likes of Midnight Metaphor, El Bebesito de la Salsa, 19th Nervous Breakdown and Brother to Brother Band at Pierce Memorial Stadium. Note: no pets, coolers or backpacks are permitted. Fireworks will hit the sky around 9:30 p.m.

  1. Bristol

When: Thursday, July 3 at 9:30 p.m.  

Where: Of course, there are going to be fireworks in Bristol for the city’s Fourth of July celebration (America’s oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration, mind you). Bristol’s fireworks display will take place over the Bristol Harbor around 9:30 p.m. The historic parade will take place on the actual holiday (learn more here).

  1. Narragansett

When: Thursday, July 3 at dusk (approx. 9 p.m.)  

Where: Starting at dusk fireworks will be launched over the Narragansett town beach, watch the fireworks light up the sky over the Atlantic with your feet in the sand. The rain date is July 13.

  1. Newport

When: Friday, July 4 at 9:15 p.m.  

Where: The Fireworks display is scheduled to light up Newport Harbor beginning at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Friday, July 4, with a rain date slated for Friday, July 5th. Visitors can park in any one of the city’s public parking lots. Some popular spots to watch the display are Perrotti Park, King Park and Queen Anne Square.

  1. South Kingstown

When: Friday, July 4 at 9 p.m.  

Where: The fireworks show will take place around 9 p.m. at Old Mountain Field in Wakefield, though spectators are welcome to get to the field as early as 5 p.m. to enjoy a live concert by Take it to the Bridge, a variety of food and novelty concessions in the park and a 50/50 raffle. The public is also invited to bring blankets and folding chairs. Alcohol and personal fireworks are prohibited. Also note that Kingstown Road between School Street and Church Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 5–10 p.m., with detours in place, due to expected heavy pedestrian traffic. The rain date is Saturday, July 5.

  1. North Providence

When: Thursday, July 3 at dusk  

Where: North Providence is hosting its first ever fireworks with food trucks at Governor Notte Park on Thursday, July 3. The fun starts at 3 p.m. and goes on until the last pop, with Timeless performing around 6 p.m.

  1. Smithfield

When: Tuesday, July 1 at 4 p.m.  

Where: The town of Smithfield will begin their festivities at 4p.m. on Tuesday at Deerfield Park.

  1. Jamestown

When: Sunday, July 6 at dusk  

Where: The Rocket-Hogs will launch a spectacular fireworks display over East Ferry at sunset.

12. Woonsocket

When: Wednesday, July 3 from 4–10 p.m. (fireworks begin at 9) 

Where:  Woonsocket will be holding its Independence Day celebration feature food trucks and entertainment at the World War II Veterans Memorial, with fireworks later in the evening.
