It was the site of the longest game in baseball history. For years, it paid witness to Red Sox greats coming up the ranks, not to mention thousands of fans creating summer memories.

And now, it will be the site of a new high school.

But first, the city of Pawtucket is auctioning off McCoy Stadium, piece by piece. On Friday, the city announced the long-awaited auction of stadium memorabilia will open online on Monday, July 15, at 8 a.m.

“We are thrilled to see the community’s overwhelming interest in the McCoy Stadium auction. This initiative allows us to deliver cherished memorabilia to our loyal fans while supporting organizations that have been pillars of our community. It’s a win-win for everyone involved,” says Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien.

The auction will stay open until Friday, July 26, at 5 p.m. If you’ve always wanted your own PawSox ticket window sign to hang in the office — or a Budweiser or Wormtown Brewery sign from the old snack bar — now is your chance. Also available are the replica player murals that hung on the concourse during the team’s final season. As local history teacher Andy Tuetken detailed in his recent book, Murals of McCoy, the original painted murals were auctioned off and replaced with digital prints in the early 2000s. Those digital prints — some of them damaged by the elements — are now available for bidding. Bidding for most items starts between $100 and $200, with high bids on some items already topping $800.

For those interested in purchasing stadium seats, seats are available in rows of fifteen to twenty beginning at $200. Because of the way they were installed, individual seats will not be available, though seat backs can be detached, with season ticket holders getting dibs on their former seat backs. Seats are not listed on the auction page and instead are available by emailing pawtucketcityevents@gmail.com. There are seventy rows available, and seats are first-come, first-served.

Officials warn that some of the items have been damaged or graffitied since the stadium hosted its final game in 2019. The Worcester Red Sox took some of the equipment with them when they relocated to Massachusetts.

The proceeds from the auction will support the Boys and Girls Club, the Pawtucket YMCA, the Little Sisters of the Poor, the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen and the creation of Ben Mondor Park to honor the team’s late owner.

The auction will take place on BetterWorld, with a link available here. Winners can pick up their items on Saturdays and Sundays in August at McCoy Stadium.
