What Cheer Writers Reflect on Reopening at Emergence: An Open Air Showcase
Rhode Island writers will reflect on the theme of “emergence” in front of Natalia Rak’s "Adventure Time" mural in downtown Providence.
Bring a seat and some snacks to downtown Providence and listen to writers read their work at Emergence: An Open Air Showcase on Thursday, August 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. A collaboration between What Cheer Writers Club, the Avenue Concept and PVDFest, Rhode Island writers will read stories, essays and poetry surrounding the theme of “emergence.”
The showcase will take place in front of the “Adventure Time” mural, created by artist Natalia Rak, in the parking lot behind 94 Washington Street. Commissioned by the Avenue Concept, the mural aligns with the theme of the evening, containing an image of a door opening into a new world.
Join writers as they reflect on the relaunch of What Cheer Writers Club, as well as other local businesses and organizations, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event is free and open to the public, however ticket reservation is requested. To register, visit eventbrite.com.On a side note, Natalia Rak’s “Adventure Time” has only a few weeks left to be enjoyed in downtown Providence. It will be transitioned on August 15 to make way for a new mural. To celebrate the artwork, the Avenue Concept is asking admirers to reflect on their memories and share what adventure means to them.
