Spend a summer evening watching a film and picnicking under the stars. On July 29, watch To Which We Belong, a documentary highlighting farmers and ranchers abandoning traditional practices that are no longer sustainable or profitable.

Directors Pamela Tanner Boll and Lindsay Richardson show how, by applying new methods to their work, these unsung heroes improve the health of our soil and sea, and our planet overall.

In addition, the evening will also consist of the eighth annual picnic contest presented by Taste Artful Interiors and Design. This year’s theme is “GO GREEN: Sustainable and Chic Spreads,” creating a perfect opportunity for us to reconnect with our planet, as well as remind us to be more eco-conscious. Show off your greener alternatives to paper cups and plates; maybe check out their Pinterest page for inspiration.

The venue will open at 5:30 p.m. and the judging for the picnic contest begins at 7 p.m., followed by live music performed by Chris Vaillancourt. The film will begin at 8:15 p.m. and will run for an hour and a half.

Since space is limited, RSVP for the event starting on July 26 at 10 a.m. There is a four-ticket limit per person and a $5 suggested donation per person as well.

Visit or for more information on tickets and about the documentary. Glen Park, Glen Rd., Portsmouth, 401-649-2784.
