2021 Summer Outdoor Movie Series Schedules

newportFILM Outdoors on Aquidneck Island

newportFILM has more in store than just a typical movie night. Every Thursday this summer, events will be held at Aquidneck Island’s lawns, fields and parks. Join newportFILM Outdoors for award-winning documentaries, live music, contests and much more. Live music will be performed before the films, so make sure to claim your spot and enjoy a summer night.

Movies on the Beach at Narragansett Town Beach

Listen to crashing waves and breathe in the salty ocean air as you watch summer classics at Narragansett Town Beach. Plus, grab a bite to eat at one of the many food trucks that will be on site. Can you bear to stand it though that, only a few hundred feet away, Jaws may be lurking in the ocean water?

Showtimes: Wednesdays. Movies begin at dusk, weather permitting. July 28, Ghostbusters; Aug. 4, Onward; Aug. 11, Jaws.

Misquamicut Drive-In

Head to Misquamicut for a night at the Drive-In. Pack some lawn chairs or bring a blanket to curl up in from the comfort of your own car. Tune in the radio to watch family favorites including Independence Day, Goonies and Mamma Mia.

Rustic Tri View Drive-In 

Travel back in time with your family as you head to the Rustic Drive-In for a night of, not one, but two movies! Now open every night, the drive-in features movies for all ages from The Raya and the Last Dragon to Annabelle. Pack some snacks and don’t forget the candy, but don’t worry about the popcorn – the drive-in snack bar has you covered. Tip: If you own a pick-up truck, pack some blankets and lounge in the bed of the truck for the ultimate double feature movie experience.

Movies in the Park

Starting in August, lay out a blanket on the Boathouse Lawn to watch some free, family-friendly movies presented by the Roger Williams Park Conservancy. Make sure to grab some dinner from the food trucks nearby before settling in. Every Friday evening this month, a different movie will play, including Pixar’s WALL-E and Up.

Cars Under the Stars

Pull up to Warren’s Burr’s Hill Park to take part in the town’s summer movie series. On select Thursdays through September 2, chill out in your car as you watch featured movies on the big screen. Watch family-friendly films, including Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and Trolls.

Social Justice Outdoor Film Series

Visit the Linden Place gardens and watch this six-part film series centering on the theme of race and social justice. This series is part of Linden Place’s ongoing focus on African Americans and the African cultures that have contributed to the United States’ history. Witness different and unique perspectives as you take in these films presented by Rogers Free Library and Linden Place Mansion.

Showtimes: Select Tuesdays through September 21.
