Was Middletown’s George Mendonsa the “Kissing Sailor”?

This past Sunday, February 17, Middletown resident George Mendonsa died at age ninety-five. He became famous for his claim that he was the sailor captured kissing a woman in a nursing outfit in Times Square after World War II ended.
