For seventy-five years, National Disability Employment Awareness Month has been observed in October, and Easterseals Rhode Island (ESRI) is inviting you to their Race Toward Inclusion virtual event, taking place through November 8. Participants can choose to walk, run or bike during the event while acknowledging the accomplishments of people with disabilities and raising funds for the nonprofit organization’s future programming.

Supporting ESRI with your contributions and participation gives people in need access to several opportunities, including therapy for children experiencing developmental delays, job search programs for middle school students and internship programs for both high school and college students in special education, and adult services like supported employment, respite and job development.

Once registered for the Race Toward Inclusion event, race swag will be shipped to your home. You have the option to choose when, where and how you race until November 8. Make sure to track and submit your time with the RaceJoy mobile app or your preferred method, and post the routes you’ve done on social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter and/or Facebook using the hashtags #RaceTowardInclusion, #NDEAM75, and #ADA30 for others to try. Winners for different categories, the fastest time and most distance covered will be revealed on November 13. Follow ESRI’s Facebook for updates.

Each year, ESRI helps more than 800 people with disabilities and positively impacts the lives of several Rhode Island families. Even if you choose not to participate in the virtual event, consider making a donation online to the nonprofit organization, spread the word and encourage others to join, or contact ESRI for potential sponsorship opportunities.

Help those with disabilities in the community and register for one or more of the virtual events here.
