Leigh X Azzul Company Store and Showroom is Featuring Locally Designed Accessories and Artwork for Sale

The state's emerging painters, photographers, artists and designers, including Kent Stetson handbags, will share work for sale on Saturdays in Newport.

The Leigh X Azzul company store and showroom in Newport is about to become a temporary home base for several Rhode Island designers and artists, who are each featuring their accessories and artwork on Saturdays over six consecutive weeks. The state’s emerging painters, photographers, artists and designers will share work for sale on Saturdays from 4-6 p.m. (but 1-3 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 16) at special holiday pricing. Wine and light snacks will also be served.

On Sat., Oct. 16, from 1-3 p.m., local painter Dave Anderson will show his acrylic paintings that are inspired by growing up in New England near the beaches and traveling to regions in the Southwest of the United States. The sky is a recurring subject in his work, featuring brilliant oranges set against deep blues of sunrise and sunset. He regularly exhibits his work at the Charlestown Gallery in Charlestown, Rhode Island, and at Leigh X Azzul .

On Sat., Oct. 23, Kent Stetson of Kent Stetson Handbags will showcase his quirky and unique envelope clutches and luxurious handbags that are regularly seen on fashion-forward locals and celebrities. Stetson’s bags are a great gift idea since many of them can be catered to an individual’s personality and passions. See Stetson’s latest and best designs, learn what his dynamic company has been up to this year, hunt for a score in an exclusive sample sale and enjoy a gift with purchase. On this Saturday, Stetson will be on site until 6 p.m.

On Sat., Oct. 30, local photographer John McNamara, a resident of Narragansett, will display photography featuring the beauty and spirit of the area. McNamara also owns Pier Picture in Narragansett, where he displays his work for sale and offers framing.

On Sat., Nov. 6, Providence-based artist Gail Hulbert will offer realistic, abstract acrylic paintings on a variety of surfaces. She has exhibited in shows at the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative, Dryden Gallery, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society (multi-media) and Leigh x Azzul.

On Sat., Nov. 13, Portuguese native Manuel Rodrigues, who immigrated to America as a teenager, will present his Azzul collection of footwear for men and women. Drawing inspiration from Portugal’s rich history, his collections are designed in New York and handcrafted in Portugal. The classic footwear designs honor Portugal’s craftsmen and his cultural heritage while telling the story of his immigration journey.

On Sat., Nov. 20, Tracey Cugno will showcase her Leigh collection of luggage, duffle bags, backpacks and ShoeCase footwear storage bags to improve your packing and travel experience while reducing the environmental impact.
