ISCO to Launch its New Quartz-Distilled Vodka on the Summer Solstice
You can purchase ISCO's latest vodka, Gemma, and celebrate its debut with a VIP party at the Providence tasting room on June 21.
The start of sunny season isn’t the only reason to look forward to June 21st this year: the Industrious Spirit Company (ISCO) announced today that they will be releasing their newest spirit, Gemma Crystal Vodka, that day in honor of the Summer Solstice.
“We are so excited to have the opportunity to release Gemma,” says Dan Neff, one of ISCO’s distillers. “All of our products are inspired by a unique sense of place and a desire to create something special, category-defining and unique.”
And the astrologically significant launch date is pretty on par with Gemma’s overall vibe.
“This particular spirit really does have its own aura about it,” adds distiller Eric Olson. “We set out to create a lower-ABV vodka that was rooted in the geological aspects of our specific terroir, so the idea of making a superiorly smooth, easy-drinking spirit using local, New-England-mined quartz just made perfect sense.”
The quartz crystals used to refine the vodka (which is handmade from organic corn) are rich in silicon-dioxide and hailed for their ability to absorb, store and regulate the release of energy. ISCO developed the special distilling process to increase the purity of the alcohol and proof Gemma down to the Atomic Weight of Quartz: 60.1983. While the final product contains about a third less alcohol content than the average vodka on the market, it makes for a pleasant mouthfeel with an easy-going finish. The new vodka joins ISCO’s family of hand-crafted spirits including Structural Vodka, Ornamental Gin, Patina Barrel Aged Gin, Ostreida and Blue Velvet Bourbon.
In celebration of Gemma’s grand debut, ISCO is hosting a VIP party at their Providence tasting room from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21. Guests will have the opportunity to not only purchase a bottle of the new vodka to add to their home collection, but also get a taste of it with special “Moon Shots” that will be available at the party. Ceviches by Divino will also be on hand providing delicious light bites for pairing. Tickets are $25 and will also include three raffle tickets towards prizes including Aura photographs by Bright Future Aura Photography, a huge Himalayan Rock Salt Moon Lamp, gift certificates to Rock Spot Rock Climbing and Saltitude, Gemma quartz water bottles emblazoned by Gather Glass and more. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $5 each, with proceeds benefitting Youth Pride Inc.
