We’ve got your plans ready for Thursday nights. The WaterFire Arts Center is hosting #ArtonTap at the new Troop-Top Deck on Thursday Nights from 5-8 p.m. through August 26. The roof deck has been turned into a venue for patrons to check out some cool art while sipping beer and wine from Troop restaurant.

Every Thursday night, the WaterFire Arts Center will stay open late until 8 p.m. for guests to take in the current exhibit. The newly renamed Troop-Top Deck is a great place to watch the sunset over drinks starting at 5 p.m. (rain-or-shine,  but the event will move inside if it rains). Non-alcoholic drinks and candy bars are also available in the WaterFire Store.

This month’s exhibit is “Down to Earth: Robert Rohm Sculpture, 1963-2013.” Robert Rohm’s works will be on display. “Throughout Rohm’s entire teaching career at URI, he worked on meticulous artworks in his South County studio that were exhibited internationally,” says WaterFire founder Barnaby Evans. “This exhibit at the WaterFire Arts Center is a rare opportunity to observe the entire arc of this thoughtful artist’s work. Rohm created artworks in a wide range of styles, but through all his work, one can clearly discern a deliberate, focused and concise vision.”

But that’s not all. Troop is also putting together a 420ish Spring Fling on April 24 in the Troop parking lot, which plans to be a COVID-safe food and music festival. There will be a special food and drink menu curated by the Troop kitchen, including chef Jason Timothy, as well as an all-star lineup of musicians who will perform on the outdoor stage.

Performances will be from Quarter Water, a hip hop/jazz band from Brooklyn, New York, featuring Leland Baker on the saxophone; Ze Boys, Prince of PVD Cam Bells with Joshua Abreu on drums; and Empress. Socially distant protocols will be in effect, wear your mask, and tables are limited and available for purchase at trooppvd.com.
