Providence is known for its walkability and small city vibes, tasty eats and exquisite art scene, but did you know that there’s a more sinister side of the city brewing just beneath the surface? Or between the realms, we should say.

The capital city is home to a variety of haunted historical landmarks — and you can see them for yourself on the Providence Ghost Tour, a walking tour that takes you to all the spooky spots. Led by a tour guide/expert ghost storyteller (with the added touch of a lantern light!), follow along as you visit some of the city’s most haunted landmarks, and try not to get too spooked out as you listen to some of the more spine-chilling stories from the past.

Some of the stops on the tour include Brown University’s Annmary Brown Memorial, which has supposedly been haunted by the namesake herself, who is buried at the memorial alongside her husband General Rush Christopher Hawkins, the university’s University Hall, which has had multiple reportings of supernatural activity from soldiers during the Revolutionary War era, and more.

Plus, a ghost tour in Providence wouldn’t be complete if it didn’t include an homage to the literary legend Edgar Allan Poe and his history at the Providence Athenaeum. Visit the steps of the Athenaeum and hear the story of how his ghost has been seen wandering the area.

Visit these iconic spots plus more on the Providence Ghost Tour, which continues after Halloween and through December, so you can keep the spooky vibes going throughout the upcoming holiday season. And not only do you get to see all the supernatural sightings of the city, but because of the beauty of Providence and its historical buildings, a tour with the Providence Ghost Tour also provides spectacular views of the city skyline and unique architecture.

The walking tour lasts for approximately 1.5 hours and includes walking up and down some steep hills, so make sure to wear your walking shoes! Head to their website to learn more or to book your ticket.
