Party With 100 Mrs. Ropers This Saturday
Come and knock on Ogie's door for the first annual Mrs. Roper Romp, a day that promises merriment, plenty of seventies camp, and caftans galore.

Are you ready for a wild Rompus?
If so, bring your wildest caftan, some chunky accessories, a wig that would make “Annie” jealous down to Ogie’s Trailer Park this Saturday, Aug. 12, for the first annual Mrs. Roper Romp.
The fundraiser pays homage to the queen of kitsch, Mrs. Roper from “Three’s Company,” a camp-filled TV show starring John Ritter and Suzanne Somers — and later, inexplicably, Don Knotts — that ran from 1977 to 1984. But there’s a catch: You must come dressed in your Mrs. Roper best, which means scouring one of the many rad local vintage stores (or Savers and Salvation Army) for a psychedelic caftan, the gawdiest/largest baubles you can find and a curly wig.

The lovely Lulu Locks will host seventies TV trivia during Saturday’s event. Photo courtesy of Lulu Locks.
The day will feature seventies television trivia, a limbo contest, raffles and a prize for the best-dressed Mrs. Roper. All proceeds will go toward flood recovery relief for Vermont farmers affected by the recent storms, and to VICTA, a Providence-based clinic that provides substance abuse and mental health treatment programs, says organizer Nancy Rafi.
A similar event planned for Newport on Sept. 30 has already sold out.
“Who knew there were so many people who like to wear caftans?” Rafi says.
The festivities start at 1 p.m. You can find tickets and more details at mrsroperromp.com.
