House Lust: Two Lakefront Cottages on a Private Island for $349,000
The main house and four-bed bunkhouse were renovated, top-to-bottom, over the last two years.
You’ll need a boat to get here, although you could probably swim just as fast, says listing agent Mandy Gruslin of Kazantzis Real Estate.
This new-to-market property sits on private Green Island in Thompson, Connecticut, which borders Rhode Island. The small island, a stone’s throw from the mainland, has fewer than a dozen single-family homes and most are owned by snowbirds, Gruslin says.
The selling point, she says, is unparalleled access to clear Quaddick Lake, which is about two-and-a-half miles long and is chockfull of recreation, from fishing to swimming to jet skiing. The property has two decks overlooking the water, and its two tiny cottages also boast lake views.
The main cottage has one bedroom, a full bath, a full renovated kitchen and a living room with a propane fireplace. The freestanding bunk house has four full-sized beds and a full bath, as well. Both cottages were renovated by the homeowners over the last two years and come fully furnished (imagine moving beds, furniture and a pellet pizza oven by boat again).
Sounds like a dream, right? Except the whole “need to buy a boat” part. But wait, there’s more: A motor boat, along with a floating dock, is also conveyed in the sale.
