Narragansett Brewery is hosting a Pizza and Beer Series in collaboration with Brooklyn-based pizzeria Roberta’s, now through Sunday, August 6. The Roberta’s team transported its authentic wood-fired mobile oven to ‘Gansett’s waterfront brewery, where guests can sip on new brews, nosh on fresh pies, and enjoy specials all week long while soaking up views of Narragansett Bay.

In fact, the director of operations for the Western US for Roberta’s is originally from Cranston. Chris Ancona is based in Los Angeles, but the team flew him back to Rhode Island for the Roberta’s popup.

“We drove it up Sunday, and we’ve driven it across the country and to Miami,” Ancona says. It’s fitting that he ended up working for Roberta’s because he grew up in Cranston with a wood-fired pizza oven his dad built in his backyard. “Growing up, the first thing that got shoveled when it snowed is a path to the oven,” he says with a laugh.

Roberta’s will be slinging pies at Narragansett Brewery from noon-10 p.m., Thursday through Sunday. The pizza pies include the Rosso with tomato, oregano and garlic (no cheese); margherita with tomato, mozzarella and basil; the Famous Original with tomato, mozzarella, caciocavallo, parmigiano, oregano and chili; and the Bee Sting with tomato, mozzarella, basil, soppressata, chili and honey, plus other specials.
