Up In The Air
The project: A high-rise city condo poised for a straightforward basic paint and furniture refresh.
What the judges liked in 2016: A designer with a sophisticated vision saw the sleeping beauty potential beyond the client’s original proposal. The terrace that was little more than a frumpy concrete box was warmed up with boxwoods and turf area rugs to become a spacious extension of the indoor living area.
Why we like it now: Taylor’s use of textures and patterns, with a color palette of yellows and grays, translates as a trendy city apartment. The look is young, not overtly masculine or feminine but definitely chic. It doesn’t have a “don’t-touch-this vibe,” said one of
our staffers.
