Before brunch, pull out your yoga garb and settle into the Wayfinder Hotel for poolside yoga with Meredith Ewenson from 9 to 10 a.m. every Sunday through September 12. Afterwards, cool down with a swim in the pool for an hour then grab a bite to eat at Nomi Park.
Ewenson is a Newport resident and enjoys working with a local hotel like the Wayfinder, especially since it has a spacious outdoor space that’s ideal for activities like yoga. “It’s been a while since I taught in person,” says Ewenson. “It feels good to be able to connect with people who are visiting Newport, as well as locals.”
After the July 25 class (rain date August 1), from 10 a.m. to noon, Athleta hosts a pop-up with discounted items and shoppers can enter a raffle to win a $50 gift certificate from the athletic wear brand, as well. Guests can also get their hands on a complimentary mimosa or mock-mosa during the pop-up.
This weekly summer event also brings people outside to take in the sunrays while having a self-care day. According to Ewenson, it’s a hidden gem for Newport residents. “I know a lot of locals like to go to Nomi Park restaurant for dinner and brunch, and the pool is usually not accessible to locals, but it is for the yoga class, so they get an opportunity to check out the pool space and hang out at the pool for a swim for about an hour after class,” says Ewenson, who believes poolside yoga is a great way to treat yourself on a Sunday morning.
Yoga mats are available at the hotel, but feel free to bring your own. Admission is $15 for visitors and free for hotel guests. Reserve your spot through the hotel, then Venmo Meredith at @meredithewenson.
