The City of Pawtucket’s Annual Photo Contest gives Rhode Islanders an opportunity to see the city from a new perspective; through the lens of a camera. This contest, open to residents and non-residents alike, encourages participants to highlight the daily life, historic locations and the growing locale of Pawtucket.

After careful consideration, the contest theme, chosen from many submissions, is “We Have a Goal,” contributed by Janice Guilbeau of Pawtucket. This theme will be featured in the 2026 City Calendar, which will also showcase the photos submitted by the twelve lucky contest winners. This year’s photo contest judges include Butch Adams, Richard Benjamin, Christy Christopoulos, Peter Goldberg, and Aaron Usher.

Contest rules are as follows:

All photo submissions must align with the contest theme and be taken within the city of Pawtucket in the past year. Only one entry per contestant will be accepted, and it must be submitted by the photographer entering the contest. Photos may be in color or black-and-white, but horizontal images are preferred, as winning entries will be featured in the City of Pawtucket Calendar. All submissions must be uploaded in JPEG format, with high quality and high-resolution DPI. Digital cameras or cell phones may be used to capture the photo. All entries will be displayed on the City of Pawtucket website. Submissions should be emailed to psz333@aol.com. The deadline for entry is Friday, August 1, 2025.

Planning on coming out on top? All twelve winning photos will be featured in the City of Pawtucket’s 2026 Calendar! The Mayor’s Choice Award winner will receive a $100 cash prize. First place will receive a $75 cash prize, second place will receive a $50 cash prize, and the remaining winners will receive gift certificates. Victors will be announced by Mayor Donald Grebien on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 4 p.m. on the City of Pawtucket website
