Ever wanted to visit Boston but did not want to deal with the traffic, the roads or the parking? Discover Newport has solved that problem by partnering with DATTCO to run a nonstop bus between the Newport Transportation Center and the Boston South Station Terminal. The bus will be hitting the road for the first time on June 7.

The fifty-two-person bus will run Friday through Monday, twice a day, until September 9. Tickets are $30 for a one-way trip.  The trip takes about 90 minutes to go from one city to the other, as it does not make any additional stops. DATTCO recommends purchasing tickets ahead of time, which are available online up until departure.

This is beneficial to both people who live in Newport and Boston, making each city more accessible for visitors.

“Making Newport easily accessible to the Boston market was an initiative that we’ve been eager to launch and are thrilled to partner with DATTCO to make it come to life this summer,” says Evan Smith, President and CEO of Discover Newport.

DATTCO started offering services in Rhode Island back in 2022 and has been interested in a link between Rhode Island and Boston since then, according to Dennis Lyons, Vice President of DATTCO. It was also an initiative that Discover Newport has been eager to launch, says Smith.

“Their [Discover Newport] knowledge of the tourism market and ability to get the word out directly to people interested in visiting Newport will play a key role in the success of the service,” said Lyons in a press conference.
