Newport’s New Dog-Friendly Inn
Paws on Pelham is a quaint, dog-friendly inn, and is suitable for both humans and pooches alike.
Newport has a new neighbor in town and four legged friends are welcome. Paws on Pelham is a quaint, dog-friendly inn, and is suitable for both humans and pooches alike.
The lobby features hooks that resemble the wagging tails of dogs for unused leashes, a hydration station for both owners and their pets and a small podium for an Instagram photo session. The inn has thirteen rooms that can accommodate between two and four guests along with their furry friend with an en-suite bathroom. Some suites have a small living space with a pullout couch and a second flat screen TV. All rooms have a designated sleeping area for dogs, whether it be a Murphy bed or a built-in doghouse — but we know they will be hogging the bed. Plus, the “do not disturb” door signs cite local attractions that you and your pup can enjoy together.
Most inns are a bed and breakfast style, but since this is dog-friendly accommodations, you can head downstairs to the lower dining room for a complimentary drool-worthy grab-and-go breakfast prepared fresh each morning by the innkeeper. No dogs are allowed in the dining room, but you can enjoy it outside on the patio or the upstairs terrace.
Paws on Pelham’s grand opening celebration is on Saturday, October 26 from 1–4 p.m. All donations will benefit The Potter League for Animals in Middletown. The inn requests that attendees bring training treats or toys to donate. There will also be a costume contest for the best dressed dog, so put Fido in something silly for a chance to to win a free stay at the inn. Refreshments for both humans and dogs will be available.
Rates begin at $154 per night with no additional fee for pets. Book your stay online at pawsonpelham.com.
