Newport Restaurant Group and Rhode Island Spirits Team Up for Rhodium Custom Gin
The Rhode Island-based restaurant group is collaborating with the local distillery to serve the gin in their eleven restaurants.
It looks like Newport Restaurant Group may have slid into Rhode Island Spirits’ DMs.
The answer is yes — whether or not that connection really happened on social media or not (I’m kidding) — the two Rhode Island-based businesses have teamed up to create a bespoke gin that will be served in Newport Restaurant Group’s eleven restaurants, including Castle Hill Inn, the Mooring Seafood Kitchen and Bar, 22 Bowen’s Wine Bar and Grille, Bar ‘Cino and Smoke House all located in Newport; Trio in Narragansett; the Boat House in Tiverton; Waterman Grille and Hemenway’s in Providence; Avvio Ristorante in Cranston; and Iron Works in Warwick.
The gin falls under the Rhodium brand and features a corn base infused with botanicals, including juniper, sweet orange peel, chamomile, lavender, lemon verbena and rose. The eighty-four-proof spirit is seven times distilled, charcoal-filtered, kosher and gluten-free, and mixes well into lighter summer cocktails. Rhode Island Spirits’ founders Cathy Plourde and Kara Larson forage for ingredients and work with local farms to produce the flavors in their line of vodkas, gins, limoncello and more.
Newport Restaurant Group is thrilled about the collaboration with the women-owned local business. “Rhodium’s approach to distilling reflects our own commitment to incorporating local and sustainable ingredients in every dish we serve and this gin will be the perfect complement to the dynamic signature cocktails each of our restaurants serve,” says Shawn Westhoven, the beverage director for Newport Restaurant Group.
