Wet Paint Raises Funds for Newport Art Museum
Hundreds of Newport artists will start with blank canvases to paint en plein air for a good cause.
Watching paint dry can actually be a lot of fun. Hundreds of artists will start with blank canvases the weekend of August 16–18 in Newport, as they set out to paint en plein air for a good cause. Newport Art Museum’s Wet Paint event is a fundraiser that includes donated works of art painted outdoors over the weekend that are sold the evening of August 17 at the museum through live and silent auctions. Some of the paintings might still be wet and hanging to dry while guests place their bids.
From Gooseberry Beach and Ocean Drive to Newport’s wharfs and piers, expect to see artists setting up easels across Aquidneck Island to paint the landscape. Funds raised support the Newport Art Museum’s exhibitions, outreach, education and historic preservation. newportartmuseum.org/events/wet-paint-2019
