House Lust: This Yellow Victorian in Warren Has All the Right Updates
The gem of a property, in Warren's historic waterfront district, just hit the market.
This place is a case study in old house renovation for twenty-first century living. It respects historic materials and design without resembling a living history museum (no judgment; those houses deserve love, too). The hardscaping is fresh but it’s made from reclaimed materials. There’s Miele and Bosch in the kitchen but also irregular — and so very beautiful — original flooring, too. And the penultimate juxtaposition: The super cute carriage house garage comes equipped with an electric car charging station.
According to the listing, this house on historic Church Street in Warren underwent a full gut renovation in 2016, complete with major system upgrades, including HVAC, electric and plumbing (in copper!). The spray foam insulation and Velux skylights are snazzy but — let’s be frank here; it’s a safe space — the aesthetics speak to me in a language that transcends practicality. And, oh! That southern exposure. Good light can, in fact, be bought.
