To kick off the weekend, the International Tennis Hall of Fame also held a Ladies day Fashion Show and champagne brunch on Thursday, which featured beautiful summer styles by Fila and Brooks Brothers. Many of the looks are available at neighboring stores in Newport or online.
Some of the models walked down the horseshoe piazza first wearing tennis apparel and sportswear from Fila that had citron and Ombre color splashes which made a nod to the summer season. Other models showcased a classic heritage tennis and lifestyle collection which featured more neutral-colored active wear from sneakers to tops, skorts, leggings and more. Guests were also inspired by the Love Game collection with outfits that had angel blue tones and fluid lines, as well as the P.L. Rolando collection which was inspired by Fila’s original creative director and was launched earlier in the year at Indian Wells in California.
After the Fila collections, the models walked down the runway in the new summer Brooks Brothers collection which was inspired by the countryside in the American-South. Styles included crochet dresses, skirts and tops, floral dresses, summer whites plus colored shorts, navy jackets and more for men.
Models ranged from children to teens, adults and even tennis great, John Isner. Isner, who is expecting a second child soon with wife Madison, talked about the sport but mentioned that life at home was about to get even more busy. In 2018, he became the first American in a decade to reach two Grand Slam quarter-finals, a feat which had not been achieved since Andy Roddick accomplished it in 2008. He also made it to the semis of Wimbledon and won the Miami Open, his biggest career-win to date. However, earlier this year, Isner suffered a stress fracture in his left foot which sidelined him much of May and June. Following his post-injury return at Wimbledon, he has taken on the grass courts in Newport once again as this year’s highest-ranking pro.
