Rhode Island native Gigi Grace is showcased in the upcoming limited series “The Better Sister,” which premiered May 29 on Prime Video. The psychological thriller stars Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks as sisters Chloe and Nicky, with Grace appearing as young Nicky.

Originally, Grace was only set to be in one episode, but due to multiple script rewrites, the rising star ended up appearing in four out of the eight episodes. Grace’s episodes were filmed between days and months apart, originally wrapping in the summer before being called back to film the final episode of the season.

“I feel very lucky,” says Grace, who was really excited about the show being aired. “It was a really fun project to work on, and I’m really excited to see it brought to life.”

Along with acting, Grace has a background in singing and songwriting, playing guitar, doing mixed martial arts and various styles of dance.

Growing up in the East Bay, the sixteen-year-old was immersed in the arts at a young age. She began by attending dancing and acting classes at local nonprofit Arts Alive! and later continued with other programs within Trinity Rep in Providence, Ballet RI and Rosemary’s School of Dance.

“When I was a kid watching TV, as soon as I figured out that the people on the TV were really people acting and not real characters, that’s immediately something I wanted to do,” Grace said.

Grace started traveling to New York at eleven years old to attend auditions, and once she began working on more projects, she relocated to the city and began attending online school to better balance her academic and professional career.

“I have family [in Rhode Island], so it makes it very accessible,” Grace said. “It can be chaotic at times when I have to be in one location on short notice. It’s a lot of driving and a lot of taking trains, but I like it.”

In addition to “The Better Sister,” Grace has appeared in Paramount+’s “Lioness” and Hulu’s mini-series “Fleishman Is in Trouble,” as well as multiple short films such as “Saving Coney Island,” “All Beauty Queens Have Broken Bones,” “Everyone Loves Candy,” and more.

“It’s a very uncertain business, so my greatest hope is to just keep working, that’s all I can wish for as an actor — for the auditions to keep coming in and to be a part of more exciting projects,” Grace says.
