Last week, Rhode Island Monthly received an email gift card from “The Rhode Show” to Warren’s independent bookstore, Ink Fish Books. It was a delightful surprise, and it turns out it was a part of Narragansett Beer’s #BuyNeighbor movement, for which they are encouraging people to buy gift cards to local small businesses. Those who buy gift cards to local businesses can take it a step further by tagging a friend and nominating them to buy a gift card of their own using the hashtag #BuyNeighbor, or you can buy a gift card for someone else and encourage them to pay it forward, too.

Rhode Island Monthly has put together this amazing directory of small businesses that can use our help right now. Check out all the shops, salons and restaurants, and buy a gift card through their websites, then shout your support on social media. We’re paying “The Rhode Show” #BuyNeighbor gift forward to Lite Rock 105, and we’ll be sending them a restaurant gift card. It can be any amount you choose; the idea is to show your support for local small businesses.

Those who participate by using the hashtag #BuyNeighbor and tagging @gansettbeer will be entered to win free ‘Gansett gear. More details on the backstory here.
