It takes a village to raise a child and with the Flourish Fund Baby Registry, a mother can tap into an expansive, local support network to make the birthing process that much easier.

A departure from the typical registries that focus on material products, the Flourish Fund allows users to give wellness experiences as well. These range from pre- and postnatal doula services, to yoga classes, sleep consultants, meal delivery services and birthing classes.

Newport resident Melissa Bowley, CEO and founder of the Flourish Collective and founder of Momunity, noticed some shortcomings in maternal care after giving birth to her two boys, who are ages three and ten months old.

While being pregnant with and delivering my two beautiful healthy babies was one of the most amazing experiences in my life, I also realized the toll the process took on my body including the emotional, hormonal, physical and mental changes my body went through,” she says in her bio on her website, theflourishfund.com. “When I sought medical help, I was told this is just the way it is once you have a baby.”

She understood that healthy, happy mothers raise healthy, happy babies and wanted to create a space where mothers can access the care services they need in their community. And so, the Flourish Fund was born.

While this baby registry focuses on wellness experiences, it also offers gift bundles with baby essentials sourced from women-owned and eco-friendly businesses. For example, the “Get Some Serious ZZZs Bundle” includes a sound-making machine to soothe both baby and mother into a deep, rejuvenating slumber, a pacifier made with medical-grade silicone, a set of essential oils meant to relax the body and de-stress the mind and a $100 Flourish Fund gift card, which can be used towards a sleep consultation or any of the other services offered. For new mothers, this flexibility allows them to get the type of support they need.

The Flourish Fund Baby Registry was designed for mothers by mothers. It puts wellness first and wants mothers to feel confident and supported as they embark on the journey of motherhood.
