Enjoy Wine in the Sunshine at Garden City’s Wine Garden
Garden City Center and Avvio Restaurant invite Rhode Islanders to join them for delicious wine tastings, fun yard games, Instagram-worthy photo ops and more throughout the month.

There’s a lot of conversation surrounding wine and its perfect pairing: Is it chardonnay and salmon? Cabernet and filet mignon? Rosé and feta?

We, however, are of the opinion that there’s really no better match than wine and sunshine. Lucky for us, we can get it this month in the form of another wonderful union: grand garden parties at Garden City Center in Cranston.
Starting Friday, May 3, and extending over three weekends throughout the month, Rhode Islanders are cordially invited to join the Center and Avvio Restaurant at the gazebo for their Wine Gardens. The free events will feature for-purchase varietals from a rotating selection of vineyards, live string music performances, yard games and a classy setting that could rival that of a glamorous picnic in Newport. Picture sipping on a delicious white while lounging in a stylish rattan chair or sprawling out on a cozy-yet-chic picnic blanket with an accompanying umbrella for just the right amount of shade. The gazebo will also be beautifully decorated to satisfy all your Instagram feed needs.

And if you are still curious about actual wine pairings, Garden City Sips has you covered there, too. On Friday, May 12, and Friday, May 19, Crystal Papino of the Perfect Parcel will be on-site and ready to teach you all about how to build your own beautiful charcuterie board. The workshop will take place both evenings from 6–7 p.m. and those interested will need to register and purchase tickets in advance as spots are limited. Tickets are $55 a piece and can be purchased here for the 12th, and here for the 19th. The price of admission includes all the delicacies you need to make the perfect charcuterie picnic box, plus special gifts.

But that’s not all: the final wine garden event on Saturday, May 20, will include a special Yappy Hour theme complete with treats for both humans and pups alike. Attendees will also enjoy fun photo ops and giveaways and get the chance to meet local adoptable pups from Heart of RI Animal Rescue. Tickets for this event are $5 with all proceeds directly benefiting Heart of RI.
