Join Us for Classic Movies at the Greenwich Odeum
Rhode Island Monthly and the Greenwich Odeum are partnering on a classic film series hosted by movie buff, Steven Feinberg.
We’re going to the mattresses against big-screen tedium. Won’t you join us?
Starting early next month, Rhode Island Monthly is teaming up with the historic Greenwich Odeum in East Greenwich to present a classic film series hosted and curated by Steven Feinberg, executive director of the Rhode Island Film and Television Office. And we’re kicking off our sponsorship with a bang (a few bangs, actually): On Sunday, March 10, catch back-to-back screenings of The Godfather I and II. The series continues with the original Mary Poppins — complete with a sing-along! — and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
The allure of the Odeum is obvious when you consider how you’d otherwise watch these canonical films: in your pajamas on the couch, chores beckoning you from your blissful stasis. Plus, the Odeum has real movie popcorn and a liquor license.
Another bonus: Feinberg, the state’s foremost film expert, will offer opening remarks at each screening. He’ll provide historical context, share stories behind the making of each movie and offer insight on why the film hit it big — and he’ll do it with charisma. Take that, Google.
For our part, we’re giving away tickets and concession vouchers in advance of each showing. Check out our contests page to test your Godfather know-how and enter to win free tickets. Otherwise, admission is $7 for one film and $11 for both. The films roll at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively. Buy tickets here.
