Ballard’s Beach on Block Island to Host Reggae Fest
Sail away on the ferry to Block Island for reggae music on the beach.
Many Rhode Islanders have Monday, August 12, off of work for Victory Day. If your office is closed, take a trip on the Block Island Ferry and head to Ballard’s Beach Resort for the Block Island Reggae Fest.
Block Island is one of Rhode Island’s most popular destinations for a summer day or weekend trip. The island, just south of Charlestown and East of Montauk, New York, offers an abundance of hotels, restaurants, entertainment, shopping and other attractions for locals and tourists alike. Ballard’s Beach Resort, one of Block Island’s hot spots, is open seasonally from May through September and is known as the summer party zone on the island. Often packed with beach goers, it lives up to its reputation with beachfront bars, indoor and outdoor dining and its famous thirteen-way lobster.
Ballard’s will host the free reggae event which will feature non-stop music from 11:30 a.m.to 7:30 p.m. Bands include Mighty Mystic, Anthem, Hope Road, Soul Shot and Root Steady. Sip on pineapple drinks, munch on sushi and other ocean delicacies from the raw bar and chill to the tunes of reggae music. While it is an all-age festival, the bar areas will be reserved for guests ages twenty-one and older.
