The Great Outdoors: Weekend Goat Hikes

Gather Farm acquired goats from Simmons Farm late last year, beginning a new tradition of offering goat hikes on the property each weekend. Hikers will learn facts about the fourteen grown goats and seven baby goats while hiking alongside them. Visitors can choose to hike with a leashed goat, walk a baby goat or just hike along with the herd. Squeee! Visit the website for times and prices.

Fresh Finds: Garden City Center Farmers Market

Get rid of the Sunday scaries by strolling through a farmers market with a dash of local retail therapy on the side. Browse just-picked produce for sale by Rhode Island farmers and handmade wares from local vendors while sampling goodies from the adult bevvie station and a bevy of food trucks. Kids can get in on the fun by petting llamas, blowing ginormous bubbles at the bubble station, grooving out to live music and more. Free to attend. Shell Games: Charlestown Seafood Festival

Aug. 1–3

Lobsters, chowder and steamers, oh my! If you can name a seafood variety, chances are this festival’s serving it. Live music finds its way into your ears as you take in the carnival rides, raffles, seafood offerings and more at this annual fest. If you’re shellfish-averse, fear not — there are an array of bites geared toward any food lover. $13 general admission; free for children under ten. Check website for times. Practical Magic: A Day of Witchery

Aug. 3

Discover your powers and learn about others during A Day of Witchery. The community-based event that celebrates all things magic will include metaphysical vendors, educational lectures, live music and more. Celebrate the magical fourth year of the event by participating in interactive shrines and ritual spaces while connecting with your own sorcery. Fitness: ASA Color Run

Aug. 3

If running isn’t your forte, maybe that’s because you’ve never done a color run. As your legs take you closer and closer to the finish line, powdered color will be thrown at you from those on the sidelines. Good Eats: Federal Hill Summer Festival

Dig In: Succulents and Shandys

Aug. 21 

Sip from a cold Narragansett Shandy while getting your hands dirty making a DIY succulent arrangement. The event will have all the tools you’ll need to make your arrangement shine, including ceramic planter pots, succulents and cactuses, and decorations to jazz it up. Good Folk: Rhode Island Folk Festival

Aug. 24

Support Little Rhody’s big musical talent at Rhode Island Folk Festival. Three stages in Crescent Park become the background for local, acoustic-themed musicians to share their tunes. Get comfy on lawn chairs or blankets while taking in the tunes from Allysen Callery, Mark Cutler, Atwater-Donnelly, the Jeff Horton Band and more.
