NATURE: Newport’s Daffodil Days

APR. 1–30

Spring has surely arrived when the daffodils start blooming in the City by the Sea! Throughout April, Newport celebrates the arrival of 1.5 million yellow blossoms along the Cliff Walk, across from First (Easton’s) Beach, in Ballard Park and several other sites with a classic car parade, decorated storefronts, a pooch parade and more. Melissa Etheridge: I'm Not Broken

THEATER: The Cripple of Inishmaan

APR. 9–MAY 3

Set on a remote Irish island, The Cripple of Inishmaan follows Billy, a young man with big dreams of becoming a Hollywood actor. When a film crew arrives on a nearby island, Billy believes this is his one chance to make his dreams come true in this show filled with eccentric characters, heartbreak and comedic turns. $28–$80. CLASSICAL MUSIC: Newport Classical: Yevgeny Kutik & Llewellyn Sánchez-Werner

Enjoy a night filled with soulful tunes as famed violinist Yevgeny Kutik and pianist Llewellyn Sánchez-Werner perform works by Debussy, Prokofiev, Grieg and Achron. Complimentary wine will be served before the show and during intermission. HOME & GARDEN: Rhode Island Home Show

APR. 10–12

More than 200 exhibitors will showcase the newest designs and technologies to spruce up your abode at the Rhode Island Home Show. The event also features a Food Makers Marketplace with wares from local artisan food vendors and free samples from local brewers at the House of Brews event. For outdoor inspo, make sure to stroll through the Specialty Flower Show and gaze at the plants, shrubs and outdoor decorations at the Garden Experience. $12; $10 seniors; free for children fifteen and younger. BOOKS: Unbound Art Book Fair

FOOD: ‘An Evening of Alton Brown’

The creator and host of some of television’s most iconic programs, including “Good Eats,” “Iron Chef America” and “Cutthroat Kitchen,” is coming to Providence for a memorable night of food, science, humor and a whole lot of heart. ANIMALS: Party for the Planet

The perfect way to celebrate Earth Day is by doing our part to preserve it. Party for the Planet at the Roger Williams Park Zoo is one way to do just that! FASHION: Trashion Fashion Show

Instead of posh pieces representing the latest fashion trends, this show takes an environmentally friendly approach: All the items are made from trash! BLADES OF GLORY: ‘Stars on Ice’

See the top skaters in the world — including Olympic gold medalists Ilia Malinin, Amber Glenn and Alysa Liu — perform during “Stars on Ice.” Arrive early to watch the skaters warm up on the ice and take in a Q&A session with two of the cast members.
