Pick a Puzzle and Race Against the Clock at Puzzical Chairs
On Sunday, May 18, attend a family-friendly event complete with activities, music and pie at the 195 District Park in Providence.
It’s like musical chairs but with puzzles! Puzzical Chairs is a live music event featuring puzzles and local Middle Eastern blues innovators Skyjelly.
Puzlkind Jigsaw Puzzles artists Rani MacNeal and Sarah Jane Lapp are bringing the puzzle-loving community together through music at two events in Providence and New Bedford, Massachusetts, thanks to grant funding from 195 District Park and Massachusetts Cultural Council/New Bedford Cultural Council.
How it works: All participants are initially matched with a partner to work with on assembling a twenty-four-piece puzzle while a song is playing. Once the song changes, they must find a new partner and puzzle.
The Providence production, “Puzzical Chairs & Pie with Live Music,” will take place May 18 from 1-3 p.m. in District Park with Scialo’s County Bakery giving away free pocket pies to the first 100 puzzlers. This event is all-inclusive, encouraging all members of both communities to partake in puzzles, music, local art, food and connection.
New Bedford’s production, “Puzzical Chairs & Pops with Live Music” will take place on July 10 from 5-7 p.m. at The Drawing Room, offering vegan Sorbae popsicles to the first 100 puzzlers.
“The Puzzical Chairs and Pie experience at Nantasket Beach was a social gift,” one attendee said after a past event. “The kids got home and went straight to work on your puzzles and after dinner went straight to work on the extra pie you shared.”
