Celebrate Diversity This Weekend at CultureFest RI
Attend a farmers' market, comedy show, poetry session and more fun happenings during this summer festival.
Culture Fest RI is the perfect way to celebrate diversity in Rhode Island this weekend. This free event will take place June 28–30 at the Southside Cultural Center of Rhode Island and will feature fun events for everyone in your family.
The farmers’ market on Saturday and Sunday has something for everyone! The market starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 7 p.m. and features food trucks, local artists, vendors, yoga, face painting and more by a variety of diverse vendors.
If you are more of a night owl, check out the 18+ nighttime events. Local comedian Blaqsav will host the comedy show, Culture & Comedy, on Friday night. Two poets from Rhode Island will be facing up against poets from Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut on Saturday night in Poetic Sessions, so be sure to go and show your support! This is in partnership with Tell Your Truth nonprofit. Both events run from 7 p.m. to midnight.
This is not just a fun event, but it has an important message as well — this festival gives Rhode Islanders an opportunity to put money into communities and families of color.
“Our tapestry of cultures – from the music, dance, food, arts and additional, positive contributions — makes Rhode Island a great place to live, work and play,” says Alisha Pina, one of the organizers and performers for CultureFest. “It also makes CultureFest RI the perfect, free destination for families and people of all ages and abilities.”
