Amica Mutual Insurance Company
Amica Mutual Insurance Company has been providing families with friendly financial service since 1907, when the company opened its doors in Providence as the Automoblile Mutual Insurance Company of America. The company has since merged with the Factory Mutual Liability Insurance Company of America, changed names and currently has forty-four offices across the country. One thing remains the same, however: Amica is the gold standard of a true community partner.
The headquarters is located in Lincoln, where the company makes a difference in the local community. Each year, Amica employees can use one day of paid time off to volunteer at a nonprofit as well as receive community involvement grants where both employees and their spouses are able to apply for funds to benefit the nonprofits they work with. Plus, Amica’s generous matching gifts program matches employee donations to nonprofit organizations at 150 percent.
Amica is also the title sponsor of the Amica Insurance Newport Marathon, which partners with Clean Ocean Access. This summer, more than fifty employees cleaned part of Rhode Island’s shoreline of 2,000 pounds of debris. Several of Amica’s employees have also served as mentors to students (in addition to grant and sponsorship support) in the Year Up Providence Program. But they don’t stop there. Last year, 20,000 cans of food were donated to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank; they have provided almost $200,000 in vital funding to Amos House over the years; and more than 200 Amica leaders across the country have partnered with the Confetti Foundation to supply birthday boxes to children celebrating their birthdays in hospitals in New England. For Amica, it’s not just about being a corporate leader, but giving back to their roots, too.
