The yurts at the Chanler on Newport’s Cliff Walk got a summer makeover. Three yurts have been converted with light striped summer fabrics and open air sides to take in the waterfront views of the Cliff Walk and Easton’s Beach. The fabrics were created by a local sailmaker, and the yurts have been outfitted with whimsical decor including lemons and twinkling lights. Diners will be treated to a five-course, family-style meal made using some produce from the hotel’s onsite vegetable garden.
Executive Chef Jacob Jasinski and team have created a special menu featuring harvested vegetables, local seafood and proteins. Food orders must be submitted in advance, and a member of the team will contact guests with menu options upon confirmation of reservations. The yurts are available (with seventy-two hours notice) Monday through Thursday with seatings at 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., through September 30.
The Chanler also has a new wine garden with Adirondack chairs that overlook the scenery while guests are served Ca’ del Bosco wines from Italy. The name of the winery that produces sparkling wines translates to “house in the woods” (Ca’ del Bosc). They hail from Franciacorta, just east of Milan. The wine garden is open Thursdays through Sundays (closed on some dates for private events; please call for more information). The first seating is at 1 p.m., last seating at 6:30 p.m. No reservations. Sip sparkling, red and white wines, or spritzes while enjoying a menu of artisanal charcuterie and cheese, burrata, cured salmon, the Chanler’s lobster roll, oysters on the half shell and caviar service.
