Summertime Blues

The project: Create an overall look for a new boutique hotel near the beach.
What the judges liked in 2015: A complete vision that swept in on a wave of color and light. The coastal-inspired surfer tone suggests a place for relaxation, and it’s pitch perfect.
Why we like it now: The look is fun and nostalgic without
being kitschy and doesn’t resort to tired nautical accents. The bold use of teal and seagrass blues in the chairs, pillows, even the beaded pendant lights work together and nod to their ocean neighbor. “It’s upscale, without being stuffy.”
