Highway Attraction

The project: A commercial office space configured into twelve work units ranging from 640 to 2,500 square feet, constructed from thirty-five recycled shipping containers.
What the judges liked in 2011: The dynamic design, which works both spatially and structurally.
Why we like it now: The color is the first thing that stands out. It features a creative, affordable use of existing materials, and a forward-thinking execution that includes super-efficient energy systems. The corrugated exteriors and underside of the roof tie into the interior look, and as a showstopper overlooking Route 10 in Providence, it definitely has the wow factor.
