Over the past thirty-five years, blumshapiro, the largest regional accounting, tax and business consulting firm in New England, has provided business advisory services to the community. The employees in its Cranston office make servicing the community a priority through many volunteer opportunities. In fact, of the eighty people who work there, nearly 80 percent volunteer. blumshapiro has partnered with Save the Bay to participate in the International Coastal Clean-Up and has coordinated and participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Newport and Providence and the Best Buddies Friendship Walk in Pawtucket. They have also worked with Children’s Friend to donate holiday gifts to families in need.

blumshapiro most recently launched its signature community initiative, Seeds for Success, a financial literacy program. It is a fully developed, semester-long curriculum that teaches high school students with developmental disabilities basic financial skills to help them live independently as adults. Not only do blumshapiro volunteers write the curriculum, but they also teach the classes. The program, which was vetted by educators and administrators in the Cranston School Department, is implemented at both Cranston East and Cranston West high schools. Since its launch in 2018, more than seventy students have completed the program and blumshapiro employees have volunteered more than 600 hours of their time.
