St. Stephen’s Church to Hold Candlelight Service Tonight on Brown University Campus
The Episcopal church located on Brown University's campus aims to honor those impacted by the tragedy and provide a safe space for the community to gather.
The Rhode Island community is continuing to support and hold each other up in the wake of the tragedy that took place at Brown University this past weekend. Tonight, December 16, Saint Stephen’s Church will hold ““A Community Service of Lament, Healing, and Hope for Brown University” at their location in the heart of the Providence campus (114 George St.) at 7 p.m.
The community gathering is open to all and aims to honor the two students who were killed, MukhammadAziz Umurzokov and Ella Cook, as well as the eight additional victims injured in the incident and all those who have been impacted. Attendees can expect a candlelight service with solemn music, contemplative readings and reflections from community leaders. For those still anxious about safety concerns, rest assured that police security will be present for the service. Above all, the church wants to serve as a space for the community to be able to gather together in this time of grief.
