PPAC Unveils a Stacked 2026-27 Show Schedule

Theatergoers can look forward to 'The Notebook,' 'Death Becomes Her,' and more at the downtown venue.

If you’re a Rhode Islander who loves the magic of a Broadway show, you’re in luck! Providence Performing Arts Center revealed its lineup for the upcoming 2026-27 season, and it is full of hits. From timeless classics like The Great Gatsby, to modern favorites like The Notebook, this year’s shows are sure to have you feeling like you are on Broadway, while in your own backyard.

Operation Mincemeat

Sep. 20–26, 2026

Operation Mincemeat is a fast-paced and wildly inventive show based on a true story from World War II. The plot follows a group of British intelligence officers as they attempt an outrageous deception mission. Despite its unusual premise, the show leans heavily into humor, blending funny elements, with rapid-fire performances, and clever staging to bring the story to life. In true theatrical fashion, it balances comedy with heart, making it both entertaining and moving for all audiences.

The Great Gatsby

Nov. 3–8, 2026

Based on the classic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby brings the glamour and excess of the Roaring Twenties to the stage in a sweeping, Tony Award-winning adaptation. The story follows the enigmatic millionaire Jay Gatsby as he throws lavish parties in hopes of rekindling a romance with Daisy Buchanan, a love that proves as elusive as the American Dream itself. Filled with dazzling visuals, memorable music, and larger-than-life performances, the production captures both the sparkle and the heartbreak of a world built on ambition, illusion, and longing.

Alicia Keys’ Hell’s Kitchen

Dec. 15–20, 2026

Featuring music and lyrics by Alicia Keys, Hell’s Kitchen is a coming-of-age story set against the vibrant backdrop of New York City. Inspired by Keys’ own life, the show follows a young woman chasing her dreams while navigating family, identity, and first love in a rapidly changing neighborhood. Driven by a mix of original songs and some of Keys’ most iconic hits, the production blends powerful vocals, dynamic choreography, and an authentic emotional core, creating an uplifting and deeply personal theatrical experience.

Death Becomes Her

Jan. 26–31, 2027

Death Becomes Her brings dark comedy and over-the-top glamour to the stage in a Tony Award-winning adaptation. The story follows two longtime rivals who discover a mysterious potion promising eternal youth, only to find that immortality comes with some seriously unexpected side effects. Packed with sharp humor, bold performances, and plenty of theatrical spectacle, the show leans into its campy roots while delivering a wildly entertaining tale of vanity, rivalry, and the price of staying young forever.

The Notebook

Feb. 9–14, 2027

Based on the bestselling novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook brings the beloved love story to the stage in a deeply emotional new adaptation. The show follows the lifelong romance between Allie and Noah, unfolding across decades as their relationship is tested by time, distance, and circumstance. Featuring a sweeping score and heartfelt performances, the production captures the enduring power of love and memory, offering a poignant theatrical experience that resonates with audiences of all ages.

Maybe Happy Ending

Feb. 23–28, 2027

Winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Maybe Happy Ending tells the deeply human story of a chance encounter that sparks connection, adventure, and maybe even love. Helmed by Tony Award-winning director Michael Arden, the production has been called “one of the best musicals in years” (USA Today) and even “the best musical in eons!” (Observer). The Bodyguard

Oct 23–25, 2026

Based on the iconic 1992 film starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, The Bodyguard is a gripping, romantic musical that blends suspense, drama, and unforgettable hits. When former Secret Service agent Frank Farmer is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from a mysterious stalker, sparks fly in ways neither expects. ‘Twas The Night Before… by Cirque De Soleil

A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical

Mar. 9–14, 2027

Created with Neil Diamond’s own input, A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical tells the inspiring story of a Brooklyn kid who became an American rock legend. Jersey Boys

May 11–16, 2027

The Tony Award-winning original Broadway hit Jersey Boys is back on tour, celebrating 20 years of Jersey-style harmonies and heart. Follow the rise of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, from their first notes on the streets of New Jersey to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fame, as the show blends legendary hits like “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” and “Oh What a Night” with the behind-the-scenes drama that made them an international sensation.
